Welcome back to our neighborhood swim team! We are looking forward to a fun season this year! As the season begins, we have a couple pre-season housekeeping items to cover.
Practice Protocol
Practice for Minnows, Sharks and Senior Sharks is Mon - Thurs from 9-9:55 am beginning Mon, June 3rd. Guppy practice is immediately following from 10-10:30 am. Attendance at practice is always at the parent's discretion. We understand that many participate in summer camps or have other conflicts during practice time and that is okay!
We do ask each swimmer to check-in at practice each day. This helps the coaches get to know your child better and also helps us plan for future seasons. We like to get an idea of how many swimmers are actually at practice each day to insure we hire the right number of coaches each year.
Weather is always a wild card! Please have your child dress for dry land practice each and every day (wear tennis shoes and have t-shirt/sweatshirt and shorts) to be safe. While we always strive for swimming, there may be days when it is too cold to go into the water and the coaches will choose to work on conditioning and/or team building.
Swimmers should never enter the water until the coaches say it is okay. Not only is this a safety issue, but coaches will begin each practice with stretching exercises on the pool deck.
There may be days where it is raining/cold. If a practice will be cancelled due to weather the coaches will get a message out via email and remind text by 8:30 a.m. each morning. This is not an exact science and our coaches always do their best to make a decision as early as possible. We appreciate your understanding!
Minor Waivers and Payment
If you have not signed and turned in your child's Minor Waiver or payment for the season, please do so. Here is the link to the Minor Waiver. We do need these before your child can participate in the first practice of the season on June 4th. Reply to this email and we can provide you with an address for drop-off for payment. Thank you!
Meet Commitments
To facilitate creating and managing swim line-ups for each meet, our team uses a file sharing system. This is extremely important so that the coaches know which swimmers will be attending each meet. For those new to the team, the process is easy! Just visit the Meet Commitments page, click on the link to the spreadsheet at the bottom of the page and enter your information. You will need to enter your swimmer's name and when he/she will be attending each meet. This is what the coaches will use to make their meet line-ups so it is important it is kept up-to-date.
*For future reference, the link to the Meet Commitments page is always found at the bottom of the team website www.lakesofauroraswimteam.com.
Committees
Everyone signed up for a committee at time of registration - thank you! More information will follow as we coordinate everything. We are still looking for an Awards Committee Chair, a Lane Line Judge/Runner Committee Chair and a Concessions Committee Chair. Please consider helping in this capacity! If you have any questions, please feel free to ask! We NEED your help! :-)
Coaches
Coach Sydney will be returning and helping her will be Coach Drew and Coach Lilly. Coach Drew will be out the first week as he is on vacation. Our back up coach will be Coach Julia. All of these coaches currently or have swam for the Aurora High School swim team so I know our kiddos are in good hands.
Thank you all! Looking forward to some warm weather, sunshine and swimming!
